This Catholic church was built in 1868 along Lower Bay Road in Hancock County Mississippi directly across the street from where it now rests. In August of 2005 Hurricane Katrina lifted the church off its foundation and brought it to rest suspended over a large ditch about 75 feet from its proper home. As the property is of historical importance it has not been razed. Unfortunately, as neither the Catholic Church nor the Government will pay to move and restore the structure, it remains "beached" across the street.
