*Air Museum

Built in 1943 by the U.S. Navy, Hangar B is a converted blimp hanger that houses the Tillamook Air Museum.

Almost immediately the stark lines of the hangar's concrete fa├žade brought to mind images of the Chernobyl sarcophagus. Chernobyl conjured thoughts of fallout, and the undeniable environmental impact of human achievement. I wondered if one day we would have air museums for air, not just machines that fly through it. That is when I realized I was, in a sense, looking at two air museums simultaneously.
