Built in 1943 by the U.S. Navy, Hangar B is a converted blimp hanger that houses the Tillamook Air Museum.Almost immediately the stark lines of the hangar's concrete façade brought to mind images of the Chernobyl sarcophagus. Chernobyl conjured thoughts of fallout, and the undeniable environmental impact of human achievement. I wondered if one day we would have air museums for air, not just machines that fly through it. That is when I realized I was, in a sense, looking at two air museums simultaneously.
